Orlando Magical Dining Month

magicdining.jpg Beginning September 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008 The Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc will host its 3rd annual Magical Dining Month program. This event is for locals and visitors alike and will showcase “the globally influenced plates being served in our celebrity-chef stuffed eateries, one-of-a-kind resort kitchens and award winning neighborhood establishments.”There will be over 50 restaurants participating; there will be three-course meals and prix-fixe dinners for $19 or $29.

Also on September 7th in conjunction with Orlando Magical Dining the 4th Annual Red Chair Affair will be held at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. There will be performing groups, Local and visual artist and samplings of Orlando’s finest fare.

Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K

On Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. experience a race like no other. “Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K” is your opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival as you run through the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort.”

For participants of the 10K race there will be a ceremonial toast and fireworks at the starting line, a course that takes you through Hollywood Studios and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and Disney entertainment. There will be refreshments at the finish line for athletes and a Post-race picnic with taste stations. Participants of the race who purchase a Picnic ticket can now take family and friends to visit the Taste Stations at the Post-Race Picnic. There will also be a canned food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

The top three male, female, military, and age group winners will be presented with awards; another award will also go to the male and female champions in the masters and wheelchair division. Not only will the top finishers receive a prize but all participants in the Disney Race for the Taste 10K will receive a collectable pint glass, a goody bag, a personalized bib for participants who register before September 1st and food samplings from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at the Post-Race Picnic.

If you are not participating in the race this year you can still enjoy the 12th Annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, the park opens at 11:00 a.m. and you can explore marketplaces featuring regional foods and wines. There will be demonstrations from renowned chefs and samples of the finest cuisine from around the world.
