Green-Bag-Project

Friday, October 30th, 2009

green bagFlorida Spirit is a proud supporter of the Green-Bag-Project, a locally founded non-profit organization, dedicated to helping children and families in need of food assistance. With the help of our guests and friends we can start making a difference right here in our own back yard!

I caught up with a local volunteer: “We are so grateful for everyone’s help & donations. If guests choose to pick up an extra can of food while shopping at the grocery store and leave it for the food bank, it really adds up! ”

No matter what the season, Florida Spirit is asking for your help to get the word out. We will be placing a Green-Bag into every Florida Spirit Vacation Home kitchen. There a Florida Spirit guest could donate canned or non perishable food items to help families in need. All we ask our guests is to please place the item into the Green-Bag. The Green-Bag-Project will pick up the Green-Bag after your departure and distribute all the items to our local food banks.

Caring & sharing – a simple way to provide food!

Thank You,

From our Families to Yours – Have a Safe & Happy 2009 Holiday Season!

More useful Disney planning information

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Careful planning can be the key to a very relaxing, enjoyable and money saving vacation. Finding the time to plan can be a very challenging task, that’s why we try and pass on ideas that could help you and your family, spend more time having fun!

In this economy, many of us are tightening our budgets and attempting to stretch our dollar as far as possible. While visiting the Orlando area, hopefully you planned ahead and chose to stay in one of our beautiful Orlando Vacation home rentals.
Continue your careful planning by not eating out every day and taking the time to prepare heart healthy for you and your loved ones.
Melissa D’Arabian can assist you with useful money saving tips to keep your Vacation home cooked meals under ten Dollars, with her $10 Dinners.

What can you do if you’re spending the day in the Disney parks? The trick once again, is planning! One of the most useful tips I found was rearranging meals. Have lunch for breakfast, dinner for lunch, and breakfast for dinner! May sound a bit crazy but shifting your calories through out the day will help you avoid park restaurants and keep you going and going with out draining your wallet.
Melissa: “When traveling, food needs to be dense, portable, and high on long-term, help give you the energy you need, when you need it.” Great advice from one busy lady!

All these little steps in planning, can add up to big money and time savers. So plan ahead to go have fun!

Relax in your Orlando Vacation Rental!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

It sure got chilly here in the Orlando area!! Lucky for you- we are offering FREE Pool Heat September 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010- This week, with a little advance planning – I’m suggesting you relax right at home, in your Orlando Vacation Rental.

The more I speak to our guests, the more I am finding the majority are traveling from great distances to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Many flying or driving for 10+ hours! That can leave you with a stiff back and neck! So what better way to start off your vacation than with a relaxing massage? I found a few mobile Masseuses in our Vacation Rental area, that offers to come to you! (Most all will need a prior reservation-) Keyword: “mobile massage” in Yellowpages.

Plan on cooking dinner while staying home? Have your Groceries delivered…. Check out Mr.Grocer. His service delivers groceries right to your front door.

In the mood for Take-out or Delivery? There are lots to choose from! Again, I suggest the Yellowpages assist you with your specific Take-out craving.

Relax into the evening hours with friends and family playing Board, Card or Video games. Why not include a movie! If you cant find anything on cable that suits your taste and you don’t mind a few minutes to your nearest Walgreens- rent a movie from Redbox –I also recommend the reserve online feature- Fast and convenient!!

With all these great suggestions, you may never want to return home! :)
Please, comment on what you find!!
Remember check-out is 11 a.m. (Unless otherwise arranged, prior to your arrival)

Escape your Vacation Rental

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Weather reports forecast calls for low 70’s this weekend, perfect time for the entire Family to escape your Orlando Vacation home rental for a few hours and get outside for some much needed fresh, cool air.
Myself – being new to the Florida area, have been on the hunt for “fall like” things to do. We all enjoy the Parks ( Disney, Universal etc…) however there are times to get away from the lines of Rollercoaster’s and see what other things are intriguing- October 17th & 18th

For the Airplane enthusiast and WWII buffs:
Visit Kissimmee Air Museum & Warbird Adventure Flights, is Hosting the “Oktoberfest Fly – in Fun”

Drive a little farther south to Polk City where you can join the Fantasy of Flight “Fearless Men of the B-17 Flying Fortress”- A whole list of special guest speakers for an open forum Q&A session. They also offer Hot air balloon rides and Biplane Rides- 7 days a Week!!

For the Plant and Nature lover’s alike:
Escape to Bok Tower Gardens –in Lake Wales Boktoberfest– for FREE admission on October 17, 2009 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – enjoy Live music, Crafts, Face painting – FUN for all members of the family!

21 and over?
For the Wine enthusiast, like myself, how about a wine tasting? In the hills of Clermont I discovered Lakeridge Winery – they offer daily complimentary Tours and Wine Tasting. Impressive Awards page, in my opinion worth checking out. Stay tuned……… I will let you know what I think in weeks to come!! Hope to see you there!

Perfect ending to you Day:
When you return to your Vacation home- don’t forget enjoy in your pre-heated Jacuzzi – FREE Pool Heat – compliments of Florida Spirit Vaction Homes (September 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010) Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
