Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon coming in October!

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

This October, Walt Disney World will combine my two favorite past times: running and eating. October 2nd marks the inauguration of Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon. This is the first and only half marathon held by Disney that takes place after hours. Starting at 10pm, runners will make their way from the Wide World of Sports, through Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and finish at Epcot. Not up to 13.1 miles? This is also the first and only race that is offered as a relay event. The first runner will cover 4.8 miles, while the second finishes up the 8.3 remaining. The best part: the after hours party. From the moment you cross the finish line until 3am you will have exclusive access to Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. Visit the Official Disney Sports website for more information!

Great new restaurant near Dinsey World!

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Sake is a new Sushi, Steak and Wine bar and restaurant not far Walt Disney World.  Last night me and two other from Florida Spirit Vacation Homes were in the mood for a really nice meal but didn’t want the hassle of driving into the congestion of Highway 192 and Disney property.  Sake is in the new Posner Center just a few exits west of Disney World Drive off Interstate 4.
Sake’s has a great relaxing feeling to it and is very well decorated in a kind of contemporary Zen look for lack of a better description.  The staff was really friendly and explained the vast menu to us in detail.  The Sushi selection is a good as it gets in Orlando.  The Wine list is also very extensive.
We started off with the sweet chili calamari and a bowl of the clear soap.  Not everyone with me was in to Sushi so they ordered the seared duck which he loved.  After sampling different sushi dished I ordered the sushi grade Ahi Tuna steak seared and it was amazing.
After a great meal and a really enjoyable time I did ask about the deserts.  Even if you can’t eat anymore you need to order their version of a Key Lime pie.  It is very similar to a normal Key Lime pie but not as tart.  They make the pie on the property and it is worth taking home for later.
They offer lunch and dinner.  To learn more go to www.sakesushisteak.com.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

tututangologo.jpgIf you are coming to Orlando and want a unique dining experience, then look no further. Café Tu Tu Tango offers its guest the opportunity to experience an exceptional dining experience. The concept behind this restaurant is a replica of a Spanish artist’s loft, where you find original art abound and continuous entertainment. Its easy going artistic atmosphere makes for the ultimate party scene. The ambiance is great; there is live entertainment on Fridays, and on Saturdays the club features cabaret dancers, belly dancers, and magicians.

tutubar.jpg The cuisine is amazing; the club serves Spanish inspired dishes that highlight lots of flavors and spices, making it a tantalizing experience. Café Tu Tu Tango is a “Tapas”(tapas is the name of a variety of appetizers in Spanish cuisine) style restaurant where you can choose from a variety of tasteful tapas dishes. However, the fun will be if everyone in your party chooses different items so you can try the many delicatessen dishes available. The food matches perfectly to the theme of the restaurant. They also specialize in Sangria’s and Mojitos. If you are looking for a fun experience we recommend trying this restaurant next time you visit Orlando. Café Tu Tu Tango is located in the heart of Central Florida’s main attractions area on International Drive. You can make reservations for priority seating by calling 407-248-2222.
